Attention important Message from The Chief:

Minoa Village Residents

On the ballot in this year’s village elections there is a referendum which will help with retention of current firefighters and recruitment of future fire department members by increasing the maximum annual contribution limit for the Length of Service Award Program, or LOSAP.
LOSAP is a pension-like program that donates funds to active volunteer firefighters. Members receive the award after meeting required criteria such as responding to calls, attending drills and meetings and maintaining firefighting skills through training and classroom education. In 2019, thirty-three active firefighters in Minoa received the annual contribution.
In November of 2019 Governor Cuomo signed into law new legislation increasing the maximum annual contribution limit for LOSAP from $700 per year to $1,200 per year. New York State Law requires any increase to a LOSAP program to approved by voters. The Minoa Board of Trustees has approved the increase and agreed to a referendum. We ask voters in Minoa on September 15th to support the membership of the Minoa Volunteer Fire Department and vote in favor of this proposal.
