Fire Safety Starts at Home: Minoa Shares New Community Guides

The image features posters from the Minoa Fire Department on fire prevention, safety tips, and an open house event.

Firefighting and rescue are only part of the Minoa Fire Department’s work. We also help prevent fires by sharing practical safety information with our community.

Open House

On October 18, the Minoa Fire Department welcomed the public to an open house at Station 1 on Main Street, in partnership with the Onondaga County Volunteer Firefighters Association (OCVFA). Mike Block of OCVFA brought the Fire and Life Safety Trailer, where visitors could explore mock household rooms and see how harmless smoke can affect visibility and decision-making during a fire.

At the open house, the department introduced a new series of fire safety handouts. You can download and print them below to share at home, at your church, school, or business. A few simple reminders can help make our community safer.

Handouts: Download, Print & Share

These handouts cover the basics. Visit our Safety Info page for additional helpful fire safety topics.

Minoa Fire Department is also proud to partner with the American Red Cross to provide and install smoke alarms for people who need them. To request a free installation, see our webpage on smoke alarms (link).
