Full Membership!

Welcome to the Company

It was an evening filled with pride — community pride, family pride, and the well-earned pride of individual accomplishment. Twelve Minoa Firefighters have successfully completed their 12-month probationary period and advanced to full membership in the Minoa Fire Department.

At the Pinning Ceremony on November 24, 2025, the officers of the Department and many members enthusiastically welcomed nine of our newly confirmed firefighters. The remaining three will take part in their own ceremony in early 2026.

Congratulations to:  Mike Abbott. Matt Allen-Jennings. Tylor Cota. Alexie Deutch. Zach Grevelding. Jake Hoffman. Austin Maule. Jamie Maule. Tammy Maule. Aaron Reynolds. Josiah Roloson. Madalyn Rushlo

Their official Certificates of Completion & Appointment capture the meaning of this milestone:

“… has successfully completed the probation prescribed by the Minoa Fire Department and has demonstrated the knowledge, skill, and commitment expected of a firefighter serving our community.

"In recognition of this accomplishment, and with full confidence in your abilities and dedication, you are hereby confirmed as a Full Member of the Minoa Fire Department.

"Your service upholds the proud tradition of those who have served before you — protecting life, property, and the spirit of the Minoa community.”

A group of new recruits is being sworn in by a commanding officer in a formal ceremony.
Fire Chief Grevelding administers the oath to Hoffman, Roloson, Allen-Jennings, Reynolds, Cota, Z. Grevelding, J. Maule, Rushlo, and T. Maule

Significance of the Ceremony

The Pinning Ceremony represents far more than a simple formality. It marks the moment when each firefighter has proven their readiness — his or her skills, commitment, reliability, and dedication to serving the people of Minoa. It is the Department’s formal acknowledgment that these individuals are now trusted, fully participating members of the Minoa Fire Department.

A Symbolic Act of Acceptance and Responsibility

The act of pinning — often performed by a family member or an officer — is a longstanding fire service tradition. It symbolizes trust, responsibility, and belonging. The badge itself represents the faith of the community and the obligation to uphold the Department’s values with honor.

An Oath that Carries Legal and Ethical Weigh

During the ceremony, each member takes the Oath of Office, affirming his or her commitment to the U.S. and New York State Constitutions, to Departmental policies, and to the duties of the fire service. This oath is both ceremonial and legally grounded under New York State General Municipal Law, emphasizing the seriousness of the role each is accepting.

A Celebration of Achievement and Tradition

Above all, the ceremony is a moment of recognition — a chance for the Department, families, and the community to celebrate the dedication required to reach full membership. It honors not only the individual firefighter but also the proud tradition of those who have served before, and the spirit of service that defines the Minoa Fire Department.
