The Village of Minoa received $107,000 in state funding to support public safety and municipal infrastructure improvements, including the installation of Storz fire hydrant adapters and repairs to the entrance of the village municipal building. The grant was transmitted by NYS Senator Christopher J. Ryan (D-50).

The funds will purchase 250 Storz adapters for fire hydrants throughout the village and replace the municipal building entrance door.

Storz fire hydrant adapters allow firefighters to connect large-diameter supply hoses using a quarter-turn connection system, reducing setup time during emergency operations. Because Storz fittings are identical on both ends, firefighters can make connections more quickly and efficiently during critical incidents.

Mayor William Brazill described the grant funding as support both emergency services and daily municipal operations: “This funding strengthens our fire department and helps us maintain the municipal building our residents rely on every day. These improvements will benefit the community now and into the future.”

Minoa Fire Chief Don Grevelding said the hydrant upgrades will improve operational efficiency and firefighter safety: “By speeding up water supply operations, we are improving our ability to protect life and property while placing firefighters in a stronger operational position during emergencies.”

Deputy Fire Chief Trevor Van Auken said the new adapters will help crews establish water supplies more rapidly on the fireground: “Storz adapters allow firefighters to connect large-diameter supply lines faster, improving water flow in critical moments and enhancing the level of protection we provide to residents throughout the fire district.”
