More than 165 vehicles — fire apparatus, ambulances, decorated floats, and even illuminated heavy equipment — made their way through the village streets, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd. The parade concluded with a tree-lighting ceremony in the village square, followed by family activities at the Baldwinsville Public Library, including music, crafts, and photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The Pinning Ceremony represents far more than a simple formality. It marks the moment when each firefighter has proven his or her readiness, skills, commitment, reliability, and dedication to serving the people of Minoa. It is the Department’s formal acknowledgment that these individuals are now trusted, fully participating members of the Minoa Fire Department.

The Minoa Fire Department is stepping confidently into the future. Starting this month (November 2025), our emergency reporting moved to NERIS, the new National Emergency Response Information System.

On November 15, 2025, the 42nd Annual Donald H. Barrett “Lights On” Caravan made its way from Centro headquarters near downtown Syracuse to Minoa Fire Station #1. Each year, this procession brings together police, fire, EMS, towing services, funeral directors, and other public-safety partners from across Onondaga County. With lights on and moving as one, the caravan is a visible reminder of lives lost to drunk driving and a renewed call for safe choices on the road.

We are looking for motivated, passionate, hard-working people to provide an essential service. Give back to your community by helping those who need help. You can become a well-trained firefighter or EMT. With free training courses, you’ll have the opportunity to earn professional, national, and state certifications.
