The Minoa Fire Department has a new tool to help our firefighters stay sharp, prepared, and ready to serve. Meet Carlos, our AI-powered policy assistant.

Carlos knows every page of our policy manual — all 754 pages covering federal safety rules, New York State requirements, village guidelines, and our own department traditions. Normally, this would be a mountain of information for any firefighter to track, but Carlos makes it simple.

Here’s how it works. Each of our fire stations now has a dedicated Chromebook where firefighters can type a question directly to Carlos. Within seconds, Carlos searches the entire manual and gives a clear, accurate , and custom answer. Firefighters can also access Carlos on their mobile devices — even on the way to a call.

This means our team no longer has to guess or flip through pages when they need to confirm the right policy. Whether it’s a safety standard, a chain of command detail, or a village-specific rule, the answer is instantly available. And since our manual is regularly updated with federal, state, and local changes, Carlos is always up to date.
